Statement of Faith

2
We believe that all people are sinners by nature and are in a fallen state (Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 2:14-15).

We believe all men are sinners; therefore separated from God and excluded from Heaven until they receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior (Romans 3:23; John 11:25). There is no other way by which man can enter into a personal relationship with God (John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-10).

We believe that God has given all men a free will to choose to turn away from (repent of) this fallen, sin nature and enter into a living, personal relationship through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 1:18-20; Romans 5:12).

We believe that salvation is available to every person and is received by repenting of sin and inviting Jesus into their heart (John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Acts 10:43; Romans 8:1, 10:9-10).

We believe that at the moment man accepts Jesus, they are indwelt, sealed and regenerated by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14; Acts 9:31).

We believe that there is one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, with equal power and glory (John 5:21-24; John 10:25-30; Ephesians 2:18).

We believe that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all (Genesis 1:1-27; Mark 10:6; 1 John 5:7; Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:1-13).

We believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, that He is God’s only begotten Son, miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutional, atoning death; His bodily resurrection; His ascension into Heaven; His perpetual intercession for His people; His pending, personal return to earth for His people, and His final judgment on mankind (Matthew 1:18-23; John 3:16; Galatians 4:4-6, Hebrews 5:1-10; Philippians 2:6-11; Ephesians 1:7-8; 1 Timothy 1:15-17, 2:5-6).

We believe the Holy Spirit came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin; point people to Jesus Christ; and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior (John 16:5-14; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Corinthians 3:18).

We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer; He is an abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide (John 14:15-31; Acts 2:38-39). We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, and that His power and gifts are available for the Christian today (Acts 10:44-46; Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 1:7, 12:1-11).

We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired, without error in the original manuscripts and the infallible rule of faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16; 1 John 1:1-4).

We believe the Word of God is the only book that is living. Its words are powerful and sharper than a double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12-13). It is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, equipping us to handle all issues of life (2 Timothy 3:16; Colossians 3:16).

We believe in the importance of reading and studying the Bible on a daily basis in order to grow in the Lord (Psalms 119:9-11; Acts 17:11; Romans 10:17). We believe in following the ordinances of the early church in water baptism by immersion and the regular taking of communion by believers (Acts 2:38; Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26). Neither of these practices are essential for salvation, but are an expression of obedience and love.

We believe Christians make up the living, spiritual body of the church, with Christ as the head. All those who proclaim Christ as their Lord and Savior are members, as such Calvary Chapel of Enid does not have a formal church membership (Romans 12:4-5; Ephesians 19-20).
