Steps to a New Life
Are you trying to find meaning in your life? Do you feel alone? Do you feel out of control? Do you lack peace in your inner being? Do you know where you’ll spend eternity, once you die? Do you want to know for sure you’ll go to Heaven? Do you want to have contentment and joy?
If you feel any one of these things or just want to know for sure you have a personal relationship with our Creator, God, then read on. . .
The Bible says in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” We are born into sin and need a Savior. No sin is too big or small. We have all fallen short and on our own merit, can never EARN our way into heaven.
The Bible says in Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates His love for us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” He loves us even in our sin. He knows everything about you. . .your thoughts, your actions, your feelings. He even knows the number of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7).
The Bible says in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” We ALL deserve death, but God sent His one and only Son to earth as a man, to live a perfect life, and to die on our behalf, enabling us to be forgiven and have eternal life, if only we choose this free gift and receive Him as Lord and Savior (John 3:16).
The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10, “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”If you’re ready to be spiritually washed clean and forgiven of all your sins, then pour your heart out to Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords RIGHT NOW—don’t wait another day. He has been calling you and is just waiting for you to accept His FREE gift of forgiveness and eternal life. He loves you and wants to set you free from the bondage of sin and death. He desires to wash you clean, to give you a NEW LIFE!
Here’s a sample prayer. Just remember that your heart attitude is what God listens to, not just the words you say:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I’m a sinner, in need of a Savior. I ask You to cleanse me from all my sins and forgive me. I want You to come into my life and be my personal Lord and Savior. I give You my heart, my life. I want to live for You now, and not myself.
If you prayed this prayer and truly meant it, you are a new creation in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 explains it like this, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” You may not “feel” any different, but you are! We are so excited for you—you have just made the most important decision of your life.
Here are some steps that will help you grow in your new walk with Jesus:
Here are some steps that will help you grow in your new walk with Jesus:
Tell someone that you’ve become a Christian! Luke 11:33 says, “No one, after lighting a lamp, puts it away in a cellar nor under a basket, but on the lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light.”
2 Timothy 1:8-9 shares, “Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord [or] . . . God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity.”
Just like your relationship with other people, the best way to get to know someone is to spend time with them, talking with them. When we do this with God, it’s called prayer. Prayer is simply talking with God. Paul tells us to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephesians 6:18). This is one of the most important ways you get to know Him better and learn to hear His voice guiding you in the plan He has for your life!
You can also grow in your faith by reading His Word. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 explains, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” The Bible is God’s love letter to you. Colossians 3:16 tells us, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” The Word of God is ALIVE and active, sharper than a double-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12)—learning to know God through reading the Bible will impact you!
It is also very important to get into a Bible-believing, Bible-teaching church. If you are in the Enid area, we’d love for you to join us as we seek to grow in our relationships with Jesus. But if not, then ask God to guide to you to a local fellowship where they study the Bible. The church you attend should believe and teach that the Bible is 100% true and applicable for today, that it is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, co-equal to God, the Father, and the Holy Spirit.
You can learn more under our section on this site called, “What We Believe.” There are lots of Scripture passages you can look up and see for yourself what God teaches about being a Christian.
