TAM: Colossians 3-4
What does it actually look like to put on a new identity in Christ? Colossians 3 and 4 walk us through one of the most practical and challenging transformations a believer can undertake. We explore how being heavenly minded is not an escape from real life but actually the very foundation of living it well. When we fix our hearts on things above, something remarkable begins to happen below: the idols we have been serving, whether they are lust, greed, anger, or the endless pursuit of status, begin to lose their grip. Paul makes it clear that most sin is really just idolatry wearing a different costume. Every idol offers a limited supply, and because the supply is limited, we find ourselves competing, clawing, and cutting others down just to get our share. But God offers an infinite supply of love and worth, which means we never have to push anyone else out of the way to receive it. That shift in understanding changes everything about how we treat the people around us. Compassion, kindness, humility, patience, and forgiveness stop being aspirational virtues and start becoming natural outflows of a heart that has been filled to overflowing. This is a message that meets us right where we live, in our marriages, our families, our workplaces, and our daily commutes, and reminds us that the love of God is always available to be given away.
